Thomas Zelechoski Obituary

JOHNSONBURG - Thomas G. "Tom" Zelechoski Sr., 92, of 402 Willow St., Johnsonburg, died Tuesday morning (Dec. 16, 2014) at his residence after a brief illness.
On Feb. 7, 1948, in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, he married Irene Parana, who died July 28, 2008. 
Mr. Zelechoski was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served overseas as a first lieutenant fighter pilot with the 25th Fighter Squadron, 51st Fighter Group, 14th Air Force in the China Offensive, the China Defensive and in Central Burma. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic/Pacific Ribbon with 3 Battle Stars and the China Memorial Badge and Medal.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas G. (Diane) Zelechoski Jr. and William D. "Willie" Zelechoski, all of Johnsonburg; two grandchildren, Amanda (Seth) Bontrager of Richmond, Va., and Andrew (Mary) Zelechoski of Lancaster, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren, Peyton and Eugene Bontrager and Alani and Sophie Zelechoski.
Friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday.
