Peg, Vince, Tucker, Pat and Johnny. I heard those names so much that I feel close to each of you despite the fact we have never met. Through the 1970's and into the 1980's, your dad spent lunchtime of every workday (with very few exceptions) in my shipping office at IBG International, one of his regular daily stops when he was driving for IML. He would use my phone to make his regular midday check-in with your mom. Tom and I were very close in those days and I am so sorry that due to illness I cannot come to say goodbye to him.
I spoke with John on Tuesday, when he was kind enough to call me, and told him that I would be there. Regrettably, I will not be able to make it. I would dearly love to have finally met each of you. All Tom ever talked about was his family and I about mine. Through the good times and bad, he and I each provided the other with a friendly, sympathetic and supportive ear.
Since Tom retired, our only contact has been through our exchange of Christmas cards and notes that would lead to a once a year phone conversation. We had tried to get together for a breakfast or lunch, but it never happened. Now I can only regret that we didn't try harder. My wife, Pat, heard so much about Tom over the years that she was anxious to meet him. I have been concerned since I hadn't heard from him this past Christmas. I feared the worst, but selfishly avoided trying to contact anyone in his family because I didn't want my fears confirmed.
Tom was a kind and generous man, one of the best I have ever known, and a dear friend. I will never forget him.

I'm so sorry to hear about Uncle Tom's passing. My fondest memories are of seeing him at an O'Grady 4th of July picnic, especially in the years after we moved to New Jersey and saw everyone during a summer trip back to Chicago. He was always thrilled to see us and seemed larger than life. All our love, Paul G, Kiki, Paul R, Amanda and Emily Tobin

Vince, Dorothy and The Rest of the O'Grady Family:
Your Dad brouhgt much joy to our family. Your family has been like our own and we hurt with all of you.
I always will remember the times we would all sit around the table and play that dime card game how much fun we all had and the many laughs.
Your Dad will never be forgotten and now he's with your Mom and jumping for joy to be with her.
