Thomas Murray Obituary

Thomas E. Murray Sr., of Phillipsport, a resident since 1955, and a former sales clerk for Rose and Douglas, Ellenville and the Trading Post, died Jan. 10, 2006 at his home. He was 81.

The son of John Edward and Inell Folsom Murray, he was born Jan. 9, 1925 in Quitman, Ga.

He was a member of the American Legion Cook-Taylor Post #111; the Wurtsboro VFW; the Senior Citizens of Bloomingburg; the Phillipsport Community Center. He was a former member of the Ellenville Elks Lodge #1971 and the Summitville Fire Company serving for over 25 years. Tom served in the US Navy during WW II in the Pacific Campaign. He was a member of the L.C.I. (Landing Craft Industry).

Survivors include his wife, Loretta G. O'Brien Murray at home; a daughter, Barbara Ann Murray and Paul Ross of Ellenville; a son Thomas Eugene Murray Jr. and wife Angela Mutoli Murray of Wurtsboro; two grandchildren, Bridgett Marie Murray and fiancé Jayson Markell and Peter Francis Murray; his sister, Lillian Martin of Thomasville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at the Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., 79 N. Main St., Ellenville on Friday, January 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 14 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Wurtsboro.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Wurtsboro.
