I remember Tom from our first grade class picture at St. Jerome, Miss Penny's class...looking so proud in his bow tie. He was alway so nice and smart, with that mega-watt smile. Heaven is certainly blessed by a new angel.

To the Long family,
I just can't find the right words... I'm praying for all of you during this most tragic time. Our neighborhood lost one of it's most beautiful residents--Rogers Park will miss Tom's colorful presence and warm spirit. I'll always remember...1972, graduation day, we were wearing our cap and gowns, singing our graduation song, "I'd like to teach the world to sing" and I recall glancing at Tom, as usual, he was so happy and smiling and singing freely... This is how I'll always remember Tom...carefree and happy. Our tragic loss is heaven's great fortune.
Heartfully submitted,

I’ll always remember Tom as one of the most popular boys from St. Jerome’s and the Rogers Park neighborhood. What always struck me was how unlike the stereotypical popular kid he was. Tom didn’t reserve that thousand-watt smile for a select few. On the contrary, he had a way of making you feel like the most important person in the room, regardless of your standing among the “cool” kids. He touched more lives than he ever could have imagined. May he rest with the angels.

With deepest sympathy,

Michelle (Perkins) Coors

To the Long family,

None of us that ever knew Tom will ever forget him. Although Tom and I went to St. Jerome together and did not see each other for many years thereafter, I always had fond memories of him. His mega-watt smile, warmth and sense of humor are forever etched in my mind. After not seeing him in over thirty years, I was lucky to cross paths with him last year. He was as I remembered him. Tom will always be "Our Golden Boy." Our loss is heaven's gain.

My deepest condolences.

My thoughts go back to the touching letter that Tom wrote when Dad passed away. It recalled old family memories, and made us all laugh. Memories like that are what get us through these sad times.

Dear Long Family

I was so sorry to hear about Tom. It has been a long time since I've seen Tom but I will always remember our grade school days at St. Jerome's and summers on Touhy and Estes, Pottawatamie Park and Touhy beach.

The one thing I remember is everyone wanted Tom on their team when we played kickball and games in Schroeder's alley. Not just because he was so athletic but because he was always fun. Tom always brightened our days with his sense of humor and smile.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss and all you must be going through.

With my sympathies,

DeAnn Gardner

Dear Mother Long Brothers,Sister and all those who loved Tom,
I will be with you and will bring my love along for all of you but wanted to add a thought or two that might not fit into a card. We do not expect one so young and full of life to leave us yet know full well that God has need for Thomas and he has been called home where I am almost certain he will teach the angels how to swim and capture their hearts with his wonderful warmth and smile. My prayers are with you. Love,
