Mr. Hoekstra was the person who introduced me to Classical and Choral music at Trinity Christian College way back in 1970. It was because of his enthusiasm and talent that I declared a Music Major and, as a result, have been involved in performing music all my life. I can't say enough about his passion for the music and how much getting that exposure from him has enriched and driven my life, giving me incredible musical experiences and allowing me to connect to myself and other people through that music. The first Classical Music piece I ever listened to was Bach's Third Brandenburg - in a Listening Class. For a boy from rural Ontario, wow!! And then there was me singing first tenor in Bach's B Minor Mass, with full orchestra - talk about an overdose of ecstasy!! Thank you, sir and rest in peace, Mr. Hoekstra.
