Dear Teresa & John and all the family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all and I will go to mass today to be with you in spirit, as I did for your Mom. Your parents were a wonderful, entertaining, generous and warm-hearted couple and I cherish the time I spent with them in Dublin in Summer, 2004. Your dad was a real character with such spirit & determination. I will never forget him arriving in Galway in February, 2005, to see Paddy. Two hours rest after that long journey from Chicago & Dublin and he was good to go! Tom and Julia were both so blessed to have had such a wonderful, loving, caring family, whom they adored and were so proud of. The devotion, kindness, love & gratitude you and your children showed them was exceptional and inspirational. I will miss him but am consoled that Uncle Tom is at peace with your mother, happy once again, smoking his pipe and catching up with all the others! Many, many times I've heard your father say, 'I've had a good life'. Take comfort that he lived it well and fully and truly loved and appreciated you all. With much love, Maura

Theresa,John, and Family:
Your father epitomized all that was noble and honorable about the Gilmartin clan. I mourn for your (and our) loss, but I celebrate his life. How he died is not near as important as how he lived. And Tom Gilmartin lived unselfishly as a man of great wisdom, compassion, and humanity.
It has been an honor to call him my uncle - and my kinsman. I cannot bring myself to say goodbye but only "until we meet again." Knowing your mother & father, when it is our time they will have the light on for us and the kettle on the stove. Blessed be you all.

I am so sorry for your loss, Theresa and family. No matter how old we are....it is a strange and orphaned feeling when both of our parents go to heaven. I love you guys very much and will always cherish the friendly times we have shared together. You have always been a blessing in my life and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you - Cathy Lindstrom
