Thomas Flynn Obituary
Thomas M. Flynn was born on April 7, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois. He passed unexpectedly at home on February 8, 2024, at the age of 60. Tom lived his entire life in Chicago, following in his father's footsteps into the Chicago Police Department. Tom spent 31 years as a police officer and retired in April 2018. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time in his yard with his dog, watching sports with his family, and polishing his prized automobiles. Tom is preceded in death by his mother, Joan (Kirby) Flynn. He is survived by his father, Thomas S. Flynn; wife of thirty-one years, Linda Horras; 3 children, Elizabeth, Thomas, and Timothy; siblings, Daniel (Renee) Flynn, Peggy (John) Roeske, Maureen (Steve) Campbell, and Tim Flynn, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial visitation will be at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois, on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 12 – 2 PM with a service to follow at 2 PM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation at www.cpdmemorial.org or via mail at 1407 W. Washington, Chicago, Il. 60607.

Tom, one of my very best friends ever, my very best ski-slope friend without any question, fellow trombonist at Marist, and he or his dad graciously drove me to Marist High School almost every day while we were there because I was on their way there. We lost contact over the years but we could have easily picked up our tight friendship any day since. Tom was an upright guy who would do anything for his friends and family as would his parents. Our lives got busy, I was out of town, and we have not spoken in years, but we should have. Kim and I remember attending Tom's and Linda's wedding like it was yesterday, and I was even speaking about my strong friendship with Tom with my wife and inlaws today. I missed him when I once tried to hit the ski slopes in the Swiss Alps too.... looked him up online today and found this obit, so very sad... My sincere love and heartfelt condolences to Linda, their children, and Tom's siblings, among some of the best people in this world, in my humble opinion. May Tom rest in peace and enjoy the fruits of his faith and goodness in everlasting life with our Lord God.
