My condolences go out to all of the Benzs from the oldest to the very littlest. I often said that your Dad had nine lives. He had so much strength that hecame out of every illness and was back on the golf course! He was always wonderful to me and I will miss him. I am sorry I could not make it to thefuneral but I was certainly there in spirit. My love to you all.

I am so sorry for your loss. Having lost my father, I understand the acknowledgement that a long and good life had run its course and that suffering has been ended or avoided, but your loss will be his absence. I have missed him this summer as I so often ran into Tom on the golf course and in the club house and we had some very very good times together, playing a hole or two, and visiting over lunch or over a drive with Mom to see Jack and Margaret. I admired him as a man who found a path to change behaviors that disallowed him to love life and his family as he wanted to. I understand that kind of change is very hard to realize, and I admired him. It also allowed me to get to know him better and this was a treat. I was in UT hiking with Julie Minerva when I heard of his death. I have such good childhood memories of times with all of you Benz "boys" and "girls". I am sorry that this event will reunite we Barnabas cousins. Love, Bess-Catherine
