Although it has been 19 years since I worked with Tom, receiving the knowledge of his passing was a shock.
Tom was a genuine person and excellent officer--one I am proud to have served with.
Our deepest sympathy goes to his family and the Brookfield Police Department in the loss of this fine man.

For as long as I can remember...Tom was my hero as my older cousin. He was always the best...whether it be in baseball or basketball...we literally grew up together playing baseball, basketball, tennis and ping pong. Day in and day out we would get together with the other kids and cousins in the neighborhood and play the sport of the day...beating Tommy in whatever sport we were playing was always a significant accomplishment.
Then there are the countless road trips with Tom...anywhere from Minneapolis to St. Louis...Tom was always ready and willing to support the event...no matter where or when.
As an adult,Tom's accomplishments as a Father and Civil Servant are too numerous to mention. I will miss him and will not forget him and what he meant to me and my family.
I hope and pray that he did not suffer at the end of his long ordeal.
May his memory be eternal!

My sincerest condolences to the Family of Tom Batura, and to all of his colleagues on the Brookfield Police Department, where he was highly regarded and well-liked.
Tom was a good friend to me during my twenty-five years with the Brookfield Police Department, and I am very saddend by his passing, which, while not a surprise after his long illness, was nonetheless a very tragic event. Rest in Peace, my friend.

From New Jersey, please accept our heartfelt condolences. All the best at this trying time to Aunt Mary, Tommy's girls, Frank & family, the cousins, aunts & uncles, and Dawn. We cannot be with you today or tomorrow but you will be in our thoughts and prayers. It was hard for Tom to go so fast -- and we will remember him always singing, playing softball & bowling, and having a "Little Nipper" now and then!
