Dear Leo, Irene, Maria, Dora, and Theresia--
My sympathies at the loss of your mother, your grandmother, your sister. I did not see Resi often, but each time was an honor. She was always kind to me, fun-loving, playful, and generous. Her Christmas visits to Leo and Sunni's home were a special gift. She took great delight in the art and care that she put into making her Christmas cake and cookies. Just two months ago, on her eightieth birthday, she was the oldest but also liveliest member of the Christmas gathering. That is the way I am thinking of her, remembering her now.
I am sorry that I cannot join you for her service. I am currently in Newfoundland and there's a blizzard in progress, the snow more than two feet deep on the roads. This evening I remembered her last Christmas present to me, a bottle of Balvenie whiskey, and I raised a glass of the same in honor of her.
My heart goes out to you. May you find comfort in the fact that her goodness lives in you all.

Leo & Sunni,
Although words seem to say so little, we hope they help in some small way to ease the sense of loss that you are experiencing. The special moments and memories will never change. They will always be in your heart, today and forever.
Thinking of you with sympathy.
Love,
Eva & Mike
