I just saw this o/b...Bishop Jakubowski was one of my professors at Quigley. Although he appeared to be severe, he was a gentle, kind man. He pushed me hard to use my brain, but had a knack for knowing when to ease up. When I decided to leave Quigley, he went out of his way to encouragement and guidance. This was a good man. I've never forgotten him.

If I remember right, wasn't he at
Transfiguration Parish in Chicago around 1955-60's? I thought we called him Fr. Ted at that time. Great homilies, I remember at a very young age

Thank you for allowing me to be of service to you as your dentist. We shared many laughs in spite of my drilling! Thank you so much for officiating at our 50th wedding anniversary (and helping my family to keep it a secret from me until Mass started!). Our family will truly miss you.

May Father Jake rest in peace. His reward for the life he lived is surely a place in heaven. The ideal priest and a true friend. The world will be a little dimmer with his light not in it.

Sincere condolences to the family. Teacher at St. Ann, mentor, confidant, friend - Father Ted was all of that to our family. I hope they have fried chicken wings in heaven. Rest well.

I met father jake when he was at st Robert and I was an officer at the Gladstone bank. although we were of different religions, he would always come into my office to say hello and listen to my stupid jokes. he wanted 50.00 in new pennies for a birthday gift and he asked me to get it for him I told him I would try and if I couldn't get new pennies, I would give him a bag of old pennies and a can of brasso. he laughed and I was able to get the new pennies. although I haven't seen him for many years, I still think of him and am very sorry for the loss god bless.

Rest in Peace Father Jake. My sympathy to the Jakubowski family. He was probably the most respected member of the QN faculty. A great sense of humor, always tough but always fair, and a stare that could melt steel. Peace Father Jake, Peace. Jon Rochetti - QN'76

"Give me your card". He scared the Devil out of me freshman year, but by the end of my four years, it was clear he was a devote, holy, dedicated Priest and a "regular guy". God rest your Soul, Bishop.

My sympathy to the Jakubowski Family. We were Manistee Avenue neighbors and St. Mary Magdalene friends. I remember Fr. Thad's First Mass along with another neighbor, Fr. Postelanczyk. You are now enjoying the Face of God ... Thank you for your presence in our lives.

Fr. Jake was and will remain a legend among those of us that knew him at Quigley North. As disciplinarian he projected a personna that shook us as Freshman. We learned over our years that he was the greatest- resolved in his values and the character he demanded that we portray, humorous, and a great friend to all of us there. His influence has spanned many decades and his legacy includes those of us that are better people for having known him. John Conway QN '76
