I was shocked when I read of Ms. Getner-Padilla's passing in the Alvernia Alumni newsletter. Ms. Padilla was my favorite teacher during my years at Alvernia. I could always talk to her about anything and learn something from our conversation. To her family I offer my deepest condolences.

My deepest condolences to the Padilla and Getner families. Although I didn't have the priveledge of meeting Mrs. Padilla, I've been very moved by all the wonderful entries. This world needs more role modles like Mrs. Padilla. Her zest for life and her life long dedication to molding young lives was very honorable. May she rest in peace. (I was only at Alvernia for two yrs.)

Chieto, Katie and Joey

The memorial service was extrordinary. What a celebration of Teresa's life and love I witnessed. I will always treasure the memories of laughter and good times we had with her. Chieto, Katie and Joey, take comfort on what joy she brought to others, and by the amount of people who attended the mass know how much she was loved.

To the Family of "Getner"

I am deeply saddened in learning of Teresa's death. She was a good friend to me at Alvernia. Even though I have not seen her in years I can still remember that laugh and her infectous zest for life. We had many good times together (in high school)and her love for her family was always a priority. When she met Julio her whole world changed ! I have never had the privilege of meeting her children, but I am sure that they are as awesome as she was. I offer her family my sincere and heartfelt condolences on her death.

Dear Julio, Katie, and Joey,

Your mom was such a wonderful woman. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago and your mom was the only person I knew to call. She not only gave me much needed advice and support but she also gave me inspiration to fight my cancer. Because of your mom, I now volunteer with the American Cancer Society to help support and comfort other young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer and have no one to talk to. I will miss your mom's warm and caring personality. She made a trememendous difference in my life and I will never forget her. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful women with the rest of us. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Dear Julio and family,

I was saddened to hear the news about "T". Teresa was not only my teacher at Alvernia but my coach and a friend. I have so many great memories of playing softball with her in the 90s and all of us going to Rabbits for a burger and a beer. May God watch over your family and take care of all of you in this sad time.
