Susan Kleen Obituary

Susan "Sue" Kleen (Summers) November 19, 1948 - May 1, 2010 SALEM - Sue was born in Albany, Oregon to Harold and Audrey Summers. She grew up in Salem attending Richmond, Four Corners, Parrish and North Salem High School. She spent the happiest days of her childhood with her grandparents at their farm in Lacomb. Sue met Dick Kleen at North Salem H.S. and dated for two years. They were married after high school on June 8, 1967 in Reno, Nevada. Sue started her career with Holiday Inns and within six months was transferred to Denver, and Dick followed. She continued her career until their daughter A.J. was born. She took care of many children leading her to take in foster children. In 1975 she and Dick returned to Salem as Dick's father had cancer. They sold their home and moved within two weeks. She cared for "Daddy" as she called him until his death. Within six months she was doing the same for Dick's mother taking her into their home until her death. Fate knew she would be called on again as both her grandparents were dying. Twice a day Sue drove to Lacomb to care for them. This went on for her whole life caring for others. She went to work for the State of Oregon and remained there for 21 years. She loved her job and helping others. Even through her illness she had a smile and a thank you! Her goal was to return to work; she didn't quite make that goal. She loved her family and supported them in everything. Her grandsons were the joy of her life and she let them know it. She will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband, Dick of Aumsville; daughter, A.J.(Jess) Kleen-Brown of Stayton; mother, Audrey Androes of Aumsville; brother, Russell (Carol) Summers of Yachats; and grandsons, Jared and Curran Kleen-Brown. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Weddle Funeral Chapel, Stayton, Ore. Arrangements by Weddle Funeral Services. Online Condolences to Weddle-Funeral.com

Sue was my 1:00 chair massage client every time I would come to her workplace. She was such a warm person and let me know every time she came in how happy she was to see me. And I was happy to see her too. I miss seeing her each month and the nice conversations we would have. My condolences go out to her family and friends, may she rest in peace.

I must admit that I never really met Sue in person but I sure did talk to her many, many times on the phone. Sue was always someone that was extremely easy to work with and would go out of her way to help me. In fact, we had some of the same views regarding work matters! The Sue that I knew will surely be missed by not only myself but by all of us that were lucky enough to have had interactions with her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

You may be gone from this earth but you will never be gone from our hearts and minds. 18 years of friendship is along time but worth it. You were always there when I needed someone to talk with or just to hang out with. I loved doing your nails so we could talk and catch up on everything . I know that all of us will miss you every summer when it would be time for the BBQ. Sue ,you were and will always be the best friend a girl could want. Love ya always, Dyrel
