Stewart Hull Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Stewart Phinizy Hull entered into rest on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at his residence. A service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 3 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2004 with burial following at Summerville Cemetery. The Rev Dr. Rick Sanders will officiate the services. Stewart was born on November 12, 1914 in Augusta, Ga. He graduated from The University of the South at Sewanee, Tenn. in 1936. He was a member of four honor societies, varsity track and football and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After college, Stewart worked for Coca-Cola almost 20 years; opening bottling plants overseas. He lived in Alaska, Chile, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. His beloved nickname "Chico" originated from his nine years in Puerto Rico. Stewart was co-founder and President of Menardi Southern in Augusta, with plants in New Jersey, Houston, Texas and Torrance, California. Menardi was formerly Southern Press & Filter Media, which Stewa rt took over in 1955 when he moved back to Augusta. He retired from Menardi Southern in the mid 1970's. He was a member of the Augusta Golf Association and a life long member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Stewart was a two-term President of The Augusta Country Club and current member. He also was a two-term President of The Augusta Assembly. Stewart is survived by his wife, Jane Barrett Hull; his children, Stewart James Hull of Hilton Head Island, Betty Hull Stacy, Clay Hudson Hull of Warrington, Pa. and his step-children, William Augustus Trotter III, Tobin Barrett Trotter, John Davis Trotter and Jane Trotter Nichols of Atlanta; sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A visitation was held on Sunday afternoon, October 31, 2004 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Platt's Funeral Home.
