Dear John and Aurthur,
I am sorry to hear of Steve passing on. This is late I am sure ,but have been living out of the country(italy) for the past few years.Only recently have I started browsing on the internet about people and places that I fondly remember. JB Realty came to mind. so I looked you guys up and was sad to hear the news. I have so many great and amusing stoies about Steve. how he would always insist on putting more flags, buildings and whatever he could dream up into the renderings I would draw for your projects...especially the airspace over the street next to you on Michigan ave I always would cheat a bit with reality when doing renderings(artistic licence)..but never lied so blantantly on that project ..what a hoot it was! anyway I hope you guys are doing well and continue success with your ventures.

Dear Balourdos Family,

Back in the early '80s as a new attorney, I helped represent Steve [along with my mentor Charles E. (Pete) Stahl of the Newman, Stahl and Shadur Law Firm] when Steve acquired 535 N. Michigan Avenue. My memories of Steve are of an incredibly warm, giving and patient man who - like Horatio Alger - determined his own course in life.....all the way from Greece to the Gold Coast of Chicago. May his memory be for a blessing.

Steve's good humor and “old world” charm were always welcome in our dealings with him over the years. It was obvious to all who spent any time with him, that Steve's family and faith were his highest priorities. To Art and John, on behalf of everyone one at Hillstone/Bandera, please know that Steve and the entire Balourdos family, are in our collective thoughts and prayers at this time.

Hi Balourdos Family,

We were sorry to hear about Steve. He was a good friend of my father, Jim McGreal, who was a building inspector with The city of Chicago. Him and his brother came to my Dad's 75th birthday party back in 1998. Dad is still with us and he wanted me to pass along his condolences.

Sincerely,

The McGreal Family

We are deeply saddened to hear that our beloved uncle Steve passed away. We share your sorrow and thinking of you at this difficult time .For us, all of you are part of our family. He was brave, a very successful man and a great father and uncle, who will be sadly missed. One of his biggest accomplishment was the creation of a united, fused, supportive family with noble principles, standards and morals. Steve achieved to instill within and between all the members of the family! Love, sincerity, harmony, mutual respect with rules of conduct. He is an excellent example to all of us, for all his exceptional qualities. We will never forget him!!!

With our love
Emmanuel, Avgi, John

Only wonderful memories come to mind as we look back on our visits with Steve, an amazing man. The laughter, the stories, and the wisdom all will be embedded into our deepest thoughts when we think of him. He would never let us leave his office without a bottle of wine or sometimes a case. We will miss his warmheartedness. Our deepest sympathies to the Balourdos family. Rest in peace dear friend.

To the Balourdos family, "only judge a man fortunate after his passing" so the ancient Greeks believed. So it is with Steven. His accomplishments and his family so attest. He left a legacy which we can all aspire too. Na zisete na ton thimosaste. May his memory be eternal.
