Sohpie Lange Obituary

Lange, Sophie L. 84, late of Sun City, AZ and formerly of Dyer, IN, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013. She is survived by her loving children, Kathy Lange of Ridott, IL and Larry Lange of Glendale, AZ; wonderful niece Lisa Dykstra of Redondo Beach, CA. Three siblings, Olga Carlson, Sun City, AZ, Joe Lakich, Nashville, TN and Peter (Georgiann) Lakich, Crown Point, IN. Along with her favorite helper, Richard, Sophie leaves behind many, many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Sophie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert P. Lange; and siblings, Helen Zureck, Mary Jannotta, Nick Lakich, and Ted Lakich. Sophie last worked as the secretary to the administrator of Oak Lawn High School, where she retired after 20+ years. She loved balancing the household checkbook to the last cent. Sophie enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She also loved playing Scrabble and cards too. Sophie busied herself with family, friends, children, and socializing. She loved to have everything in its place, which included her hair, make-up and jewelry that started her every day. She was always ready for anything. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Arizona's Hospice of The Valley, or an Alzheimers organization of your choice. The family also asks that prayers be sent to all the employees at The Woodmark and the SPA, where Sophie was able to live her last two years surrounded by abundant care and love. Memorial services for Sophie's family and friends will be announced at a later time.
