Sidney Marks Obituary

Marks, Sidney Age 79, of Skokie, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Sidney was born on August 15, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Milton and Bertha Marks. He was the proprietor of Beachview Liquors/Pub located at Sheridan and Rogers. From the late 1950's to the late 1980's, Beachview was an important staple of Chicagoland when the suburbs were dry towns and the place to be while featuring live entertainment. Sidney inherited his father's and mother's spirit of generosity, huge heart, sense of humor and love of family. Sidney passed away Sunday morning with his Sun-Times beside him so he could "study" and make his picks for his beloved football pool, usually favoring the underdog. Sidney is survived by his sons, Bruce Marks, Jeffrey Marks and Phillip Marks; his daughter, Kimberly Jones; his grandchildren, Brandon Marks and Joshua Marks. Family and friends will be contacted regarding service and reception. 815-814-1003.

I worked for Sid at the liquor store in the early 1980's, he had a dynamic personality and a heart of gold. Odd how like Jackie, who I remember and left a condolence earlier in 2023, I too Googled Sid periodically over the years, only to find his obituary moments ago.

I remember working with Steve, Jane, Paul, and a gentleman named Larry if my memory serves me correctly. I remember Bruce too, my belated condolences Bruce, and to all of Sid's family.

I searched for Sidney for many years perhaps stopping in 2017. I worked for him at Beachview lounge Chicago and he was a wonderful person. It´s funny how we lost contact but I have the best memories rest in peace I´ll never forget you.
