SHIRLEY PEEK Obituary

Neidhammer Peek March 20, 1933 - Jan. 2, 2017 TULSA Shirley May Neidhammer Peek, 83, passed away peacefully on Jan. 2, 2017, after a long illness. Born in Ashland, PA on March 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late George and Marie Krah Neidhammer. Shortly after graduation from Ashland High School in 1951, Shirley moved to Washington DC to begin work as a secretary for the Civil Service. There she met the love of her life, Richard A. Peek, and they married on Feb. 28, 1953. They moved numerous times throughout his Air Force career which included assignments in the Philippines twice and Germany, as well as many Air Force bases within the US. Not only was Shirley a very supportive and loving housewife and mother but she also volunteered wherever she could. Most notably, she earned a 15-year service pin from the American Red Cross for volunteering over 5000 hours at Tinker Air Force Base Hospital in Midwest City, OK. A few years after Dick's death in March 1981, Shirley relocated to the Air Force Enlisted Village in Fort Walton Beach, FL, then returned to OK in 2003 to be closer to family due to health concerns. She is survived by her son Rollin Peek and wife Carol of Norman, OK, daughter Laura Rose and husband Steve of Broken Arrow, OK, granddaughter Stacey Dutton and husband Eric of Skiatook, OK, grandson Mike Rose and wife Evan of Arvada, CO, great-grandchildren Breck and Kinley Dutton, brother Bert Neidhammer and wife Gail of Riverview, FL, sister Nancy Williams of Ashland, PA, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Oklahoma Methodist Manor for their loving and attentive care of Shirley during her final years. Services will be held at Sunny Lane Cemetery Chapel in Del City OK on Saturday Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or American Red Cross in memory of Shirley Peek.

Have very found memories of the many years Shirley & I have been friends. I was an Ashland resident for many years in my youth but didn't meet Shirley until OK. You are missed my friend - especially those wonderful Christmas letters and photos. God Bless. See you again one day.

Rest In Peace Aunt Shirley. I have very fond memories of you from when you would visit my nana in Ashland. My thoughts are with her family, especially her daughter Laura and son Rollin.
