Untitled Mrs. Shirley Carter Brown

NATCHEZ, MS - Mrs. Shirley Carter Brown, age 62, of Natchez, MS, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Natchez Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 17, 2006 at 10:00 AM from Natchez First Baptist Church with Dr. Judson W. Hurt officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM from Gardens of Memory in Minden, LA under the direction of Laird Funeral Home of Natchez, MS.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 16, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Laird Funeral Home Union Street. Friday, visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service.

Mrs. Brown was born November 13, 1944, in Natchez, MS, the daughter of R. P. Carter Sr. and Nettie Laird Carter. She was a member of Natchez First Baptist Church, and the Minden, LA evening Lion's Club. Mrs. Brown also was a 30 year member of Alanon Family Group. She owned and operated Gayosa Avenue Market.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband of 25 years, Paul A. Brown.

Survivors include son, Daniel Brown and wife Dee of Natchez, MS; daughter, Paula Rae Brown of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren: Tristan Brown of Hattiesburg, MS, Joshua Brown of Natchez, MS, Danielle Brown of Natchez, MS; brothers: Reggie Carter, Jr. and wife Pat of Natchez, MS, Jerry Carter and wife Carolyn of Natchez, MS, David Carter and wife Susie of Natchez, MS.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Brown, Tristan Brown, Jerry Carter, David Carter, John Moore, Tommy McMurray, Reggie Carter and Ronnie Harrell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe McMurray, Jerry Lee, Jimmy Whitt, Buddy Latham, Ricky Evans, Dr. Barry Tillman, Dr. Jack Rodriguez, and Dr. Roderick Givens.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Laird Funeral Home

Shirley had a gift of life that made her a pleasure to be around. She gave more than she received.

It was such a pleasure to have met Shirley in 1988 thru Al Anon. She helped me so much and was such a nice person to be around. God bless and help all of her family as they go through this time.
