Shawn Dixon Obituary

I just found out about Shawn, Sam, and Sherell today. I am deeply sadden by this. This is 2017, and my old friend died in 2009. I never really got to know Shawn very well, but i remember her. She lived next door to a friend to another friend of ours Willie C. Cold on Prairie st. She wanted to be a weather-lady when we grew up, and i wanted to be a spokesman. We played soft ball right next door in the lot. Good times, good friends, and good to have known you and yours.

My heart is broken to learn of my classmates death. I thoroughly enjoyed my high school experience in friendship with Shawn and many others we associated with. I am in shock from lack of keeping up with my old friend, however, I pray her family stays strong and in prayer, and know my prayers are with them always.

Shawn was a wonderful person who touched so many lives. I attended gramer school with her and I always remember her warm smile. She will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends. May God keep you strong.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I want to extend my sympathy to the family and all who knew Shawn. I met her in the 1980's as a Loyola undergraduate business student and loved her humor and positive personality. Later I went to Loyola's law school and Shawn moved to the law school staff with her same wonderful spirit. I am truly sadden to hear of Shawn's passing.

I MET SHAWN SEVERAL YEARS AGO REFEREEING A CCAC COLLEGE GAME. SHE IMPRESSED ME NOT ONLY WITH HER SKILLS BUT HER ENTHUSIAM OF THE GAME. LATER ON SHE OPENLY DISCUSSED HER CANCER WITH ME. NEVER ONCE DID SHE COMPLAIN OR USE HER CONDITION AS AN EXCUSE. I RESPECTED HER FOR THIS AND WILL MISS HER SMILE AND LAUGHTER ON THE COURT. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
