Sharon Sedig Obituary

SEDIG, SHARON B., 55, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, June 10. Sharon graduated from UCF with a degree in Education and taught for 33 years, primarily in Orange County, most recently at Legacy Middle School. Sharon was an outstanding teacher that inspired close to 5,000 students over her career. She was a long-time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and her faith was a source of strength and comfort. Sharon was an avid reader who enjoyed going to the beach and caring for her dogs, but her greatest sense of pride and accomplishment came from being a mother to her two children, Laura and Kristen. Sharon is also survived by her mother, Blanche Ericson; sisters Diane Ericson and Nancy Carpenter and her husband, Mike; and brother Harry Ericson and his wife, Susan. Memorial Service will be 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3377 Aloma Ave., Winter Park. A special thank you goes to her many friends that supported her during her illness, especially those who cared for her and her dogs.

Wow. I remember being her teachers assistant and meeting her two daughters a couple times. She inspired my artistic curiosity by publishing my poetry and letting me paint her windows with an underwater scene in her classroom. She was so young.

I'd like to visit her grave to pay my respects.

On her anniversary of her passing I remember the wonderful times we shared at Legacy MS. Her room was directly across from mine and we would always talk about our families (children), the students and life in general. She was a true inspiration to all who knew her.

Laura, Kristen and family,
It was a year ago that I lost my dear friend; all of you lost a daughter, mother, sister and aunt. There is not a day that goes by that I don't wish I could speak with her and share my life with her. Our lives were so entertwined that not a day goes by that something doesn't remind me of my special friendship with Sharon. I miss her terribly!
I know I've not stayed in touch, but please understand that all of you are in my heart for always.
Having shared our birthdays on the same day and our deepest thoughts for 25 years, she touched my life in so many ways. Lucky are we who were part of Sharon's life while she an Angel on Earth. With much love!

Laura and Kristen,
I worked alongside your mother the past few years and I always appreciated her kindness and thoughtfulness. She was an inspiring teacher and I know she will live on in all the children that she touched in her years of teaching as she will live on in both of you. She will be missed by all.

Laura, Kristen and family, I had the pleasure of working with your mom at Legacy. She always had kind words to say. She was very proud of Laura and Kristen as we would often have brief brag sessions about our children. She was a delightful person who had a positive impact on all that knew her. May prayers for peace, comfort, and strength help you through this difficult time.

Laura and Kristen and family: I was a good friend of Sharon's for the past 7 years. We helped and supported each other through our respective "life's journey". Sharon taught me so much about being a good parent, a good person and appreciating the beauty of nature (God's work). She loved teaching, reading at the beach, popcorn at the movies, listening to Josh Groban music, playing with her "pups" but most of all she loved her daughters and her family.
There is an old saying...."Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the Love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy".
She touched so many lives and we are all better people for having had the opportunity to know her. I wish you Peace.

Laura and Kristen

Your mom was a wonderful woman who i had the honor of teaching with the last 6 years at legacy middle school. I will truly miss her positive spirit and witty personality, which often times was mixed with a little sarcasm. All students that graced her classroom became improved students, and more importantly better people.

She was so proud of both of you for the successful young women you have become. Lunchtime was a frequent brag session of her girls and all of your accomplishments, followed of course by her love of the dogs. As you go through such a challenging time, please know that people are in your corner to support you.

Sharon you will be missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Sharon at Legacy MS. She was a kind soul, always looking out for others and making sure that everyone was taken care of. I had many heartfelt conversations with Sharon, especially recently. She told me that she led a fulfilled life and that she felt happy with what she had accomplished, especially when it came to her daughters Laura and Kristen. I can still picture her sitting on her couch, petting Sprocket and smiling at me as we talked about her daughters. I know that she is looking down, smiling at her daughters now, watching over them and continuing to love them from Heaven. God bless you Sharon; you have impacted my life in such a positive way and I will miss you greatly.

To Kristen Laura and family. I worked with Sharon at Lockhart for about 8 years. She was such an inspiration and model educator. Always willing to go the extra mile for her students. But above and beyond that, she was sweet and soft spoken. She always spoke of how proud she was of her daughters. Heaven has gained a real angel. My prayers are with you all. kathy clarkin

Laura and Kristen

I have had the priviledge of working along side your mother while at Legacy Middle School and she truly made my experience there memorable. Sharon always was a bright spot in my day; to be able to step outside my doorway and talk with her about anything. She always saw the positive in life and made sure everyone else was comforted. Many times she would talk about you two and how proud she was of you. She will be missed by all who knew her. God bless the two of you and know she is now at peace with the Lord.

I am thankful that Sharon was part of my life. Although we had many differences, we were able to come full circle. I celebrate Sharon's life and I am so very thankful that she is finally home, where I long to be. My heart is heavy for those that feel her absense here, but my heart overflows with joy for Sharon! Until we meet again....
