She was born on Jan. 9, 1933, a daughter of the late Hugo and Annette (Yurkewich) Cestari. She grew up on Long Island in Oceanside, N.Y., and Rockville Center, N.Y., and graduated from Oceanside High School as salutatorian. She later graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree in psychology, and completed some graduate work in elementary school education from Adelphi University.
Following her marriage in 1953, Mrs. Shiebler was a homemaker while raising her five children. She later was employed as a manager for Chase Manhattan Bank in several areas of Long Island. In 2003, she moved to Massachusetts to be closer to her family.
She was a Girl Scout leader, and a member of St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Center.
Mrs. Shiebler's survivors include her five children, George Shiebler III of Short Hills, N.J., Hugh V. Shiebler of Essex, Conn., Susan Ann MacDowell of Littleton, Mary McCullough of Wayland and Kathy Lynch of Framingham; a sister, Diane Andrews of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and 11 grandchildren.
