Samuel Wallace Obituary

Wallace Jr., Samuel P.

Samuel (Sam) P. Wallace, Jr., age 78, died Tuesday, May 11, 2021, after a long difficult fight against heart disease. Sam proudly served the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an agent for 28 years, retiring in 1995. While an agent, his duties required deep investigations of domestic terrorism. He was the father of three children and was a long time resident of River Forest, Illinois. Sam was born on February 27, 1943 in York, PA. He was the son of Marguerite and Samuel P. Wallace of Saylorsburg, PA. Sam was a graduate of Penn Manor High School, Millersville, PA, and East Stroudsburg University, East Stroudsburg, PA, where he majored in chemistry. He entered the FBI in 1966, serving initally in the FBI office in Knoxville, TN and subsequently and primarily in the FBI office in Chicago, IL. He was a survivor, albeit with serious injuries, of the tragic elevated train crash "Chicago Loop Derailment" of 1977. He was an accomplished clarinetist, loved playing basketball and was an avid fisherman. Sam was a devoted husband and father. His loving wife, Theresa, predeceased him in 2010. He is survived by his children, Suzanne (husband Kevin) Wodrich, Gretchen (husband Matt) Tuomi and son Stephen. His grandchildren Joseph, Jenna, Nathan, Keegan, and sister, Glenda (husband Chuck, retired from the FBI) Bilder.
