Aievoli, Salvatore "Sam" D. beloved husband of the late Concetta "Connie" (nee Fiscella), loving father of Virginia (William) Calabretta, Mary Jean (Richard) Barberio, Frank, Diane (Carl C.P.D.) Giangrosso, and the late Connie (the late Ronald C.P.D.) Parello, beloved son of the late Virginia and Frank Aievoli, fond grandfather of eight, great-grandfather of four, dear brother of Caroline (Amando) Paoletti, and the late Mary (the late Jim) Sposito, Virginia (Gordon) Turrell, and Phyllis (the late Tony) Di Gregorio, fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Funeral Thursday, 9:15 a.m. from Michael Coletta Sons Funeral Home, 544 W. 31st St., to St. Jerome Croatian Church, Mass 10 a.m. Entombment Queen of Heaven Crucifixion Garden Mausoleum. Please omit flowers. Visitation Wednesday, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. 312-225-8500.

Gia,
I was not so fortunate to have known Poppy, but I feel as if I did. All the great and fun stories you told of him put in mind a loving and very loved man. I know you are feeling great loss but I hope that thoughts of Poppy will help you and your family to quickly overcome the sadness as I'm sure he would have wanted.

Gia, I am so sorry about Poppy. I will never forget him singing Mario Lanza songs to us at Uncle Frank's house. He will be greatly missed, but he left behind many wonderful memories.
