I am so sorry to hear of this...the last we spoke, Ruth was comfortable with her decision to let her cancer take its course and was at peace with the notion of her death. Still, it is a great loss to me as she was one of the only friends I had who took the time to visit me at my father's shiva in 2000. She will be missed by many people, and I will never forget the kindness of this sharp, witty, go-getter whose memory will be for a blessing among all the mourners of Zion. God bless you always and forever.

I never knew Ruth, but looked forward to her column in the Daily Herald. She made me realize to be grateful for the little things in life that we take for granted. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

To all of Ruth's extended family, we send our deepest sympathies and our condolences. Ruth was a vital member of the North Shore University Health System Oncology Patient Advisory Board; we valued her stimulating input and ideas and will miss her.

So sorry to hear about Ruth. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. I knew Ruth from Continental Restaurant. I used to work there. I know she loved the food and adored Pete. Again, very sorry to hear.

If you were a friend of Ruth's, there was nothing she would not do for you. Even during the roughest of times, she was always supportive of others. My fondest memories of Ruth are watching her singing with me and our cherished choir, Kol Zimrah, The Jewish Community Singers of Greater Chicago. Ruth was our "Number 1 Groupie". I truly admire her courage and determination to keep fighting her illness. She did so with the utmost dignity and courage. She will be missed. May her memory be for a blessing.

One of my prior job responsibilities at the department was to serve as the Public Information Officer; I met Ruth in this capacity. My interactions with Ruth were always very professional and her warmth in her approach to the story and the department were refreshing. I will always remember Ruth fondly as an individual I learned from every time I spoke with her. After the professional interview was over she would always chat about about life in the suburbs or something interesting she was doing. I will miss her. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
