Russell Jones Obituary

Funeral services for Russell "Butch" Jones, 53, of Clinton, Iowa, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lemke Funeral Homes South Chapel, 2600 Lincolnway, Clinton. Butch died Saturday at Mercy Medical Center North. The Rev. Horst Hehr will officiate. Visitation wil be 2-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemtery, with military honors by the Clinton Amvets. Pallbearers will be Doug Jones Jr., Scott Jones, Mike Franzen, Bob Hyde, Mark Otto, and Duane Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Broderick, Norman Bolton, Larry Ramig, and Scott Reese. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Clinton Amvets or local veterans organizations.
Russell V. "Butch" Jones was born March 10, 1952, in Clinton, to George and Marie (Owens) Jones. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1970. He was a veteran of the Army Airborne Infantry 101st, serving during the Vietnam War. He worked for the City of Clinton Street Department for over 20 years. He was a member of the Clinton Softball League for many years, the Clinton Bowling Association, and the Clinton Billiard League.
Survivors include his parents, George and Marie Jones, of Clinton; three brothers, Marlin (Janice) Jones, Doug (Deb) Jones, and Dennis (Donna) Jones, all of Clinton; life long friend, Patti Hoffman, of Clinton; several nieces and nephews; and many friends from Walkers.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and brother, Mike.
