Russell A. Coy

Modena, NY - Russell A. Coy, age 83, of Modena, NY, passed away at home on Thursday, February 2, 2012, after a long illness.

He was born on September 17, 1928, in Modena, NY. He was the son of the late John L. and the late Edith B. (Elliott) Coy. He married Wanda Lasher on December 2, 1950 at Modena United Methodist Church. She predeceased him on January 3, 2000.

Russell served in the United States Navy.

He was a member of the Adonai Masonic Lodge #718, Highland, NY. He was active in the Town of Plattekill Historical Society, and was a former member of the Modena Fire and Rescue.

He retired from Schatz Federal Bearing Co., Poughkeepsie, NY. He later worked as a security guard at Vassar College.

Surviving are two daughters, Carlene A. and husband Michael Secor of Modena, NY, Laurie and her husband Carl Wilson of Marlboro, NY, grandson, Kevin and his wife Kelley Secor of Modena, NY; granddaughters, Jessica Secor of Modena, NY; Jarah Brown and Wayne Volk of Clayton, NC; grandsons, Joel Brown of Marlboro, NY; Christopher & Jesse Wilson of Marlboro, NY; great grandsons, Connor & Logan Volk of Clayton, NC; and Andrew Secor of Modena, NY; a niece, Andrea Coy of Sebastian, FL. He was predeceased by his wife Wanda Coy on January 3, 2000, and a brother, John Leonard Coy.

Friends and relatives may call on Sunday, February 5, 2012, from 1-4pm at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012, at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Modena Rural Cemetery.
