Russell H. Beard
of Binghamton
Russell H. Beard, 88, of Binghamton, went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2007. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Muriel Beard. He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Connie Beard, Binghamton, Gary Beard and friend, Doreen Post, Gillett, Pa.; three grandchildren and spouses, Kelly and Oliver Becker, Justin and Stacey Beard, Sean and April Beard; great-grandchildren, Kailey Beard, Nathan Beard, Taylor Beard, Margaret Kathryn Beard, Davis Beard. He was employed by GAF for 39 years. He joined the Main Street Baptist Church in 1945, he served several terms as a deacon and was a member of the choir. He was also a member and sang in the chorus at the First Ward Senior Center, where he joined in 1981, and a member of the Greenman Senior Center. His first priority was God and family, his second was music and singing. Russell was most proud of singing for the senior dance band and singing solos in many churches in the Southern Tier and Pennsylvania and at the wedding of his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Connie Beard in St. Paul's Church, Binghamton, as well as solos at all of his grandchildren's weddings.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main Street, Johnson City. His Pastor, the Rev. Timothy Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Barber Memorial Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church, 117 Main Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
