Roslyn Schwartz Obituary

Schwartz, Roslyn Frankel Passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018; she was 95 years old. Roz (although we did hear a few friends occasionally call her "Rozzie"), loved life and her glass was always half full. She was a lifelong Chicagoan who loved everything the vibrant city had to offer, unless it involved being out in the ice and snow for protracted periods of time. She and her husband of 35 years, Larry Schwartz, had a story-book romance and helped the rest of us understand how important happiness is. She leaves two children, Michele and her husband Joe Becker, and Brad and his wife Karol Castle; four grandchildren, Kat Schwartz, Dana Smith and her husband Josh, Matt Schwartz and his wife Steph, and Larry Becker and his wife Michelle Sandler; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Graham Smith, Madelyn Becker, and Madison Schwartz. Although she never thought of herself as such, she was a pioneering woman, helping to found a company in the 1960's; something unusual for a woman of that time. She was also the last of her generation from the Frankel and Schwartz families; that remarkable generation that made it possible for those of us that follow to enjoy the fruits of freedom. Her extended family of nieces, nephews, etc., is too large to list individually; they each have memories of her that bring smiles and the telling of stories. As sad as it is to lose her, we all know she and Larry are finally together again, probably at the Black Angus, in a corner booth, counting their blessings that they are together again. The family will be gathering in the near future for a celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Morgridge Institute for Research (https://morgridge.org/give/). Arrangements were entrusted to Cremation Society of Illinois.
