Dear Murrin family,

All of you wonderful Murrins. It is with great sadness that we heard of your great loss today in a phone conversation with a local customer. He wasn't sure of the wake & funreral schedule, but the Chicago Tribune Website says we've missed it. We would have liked to join your many friends to pay our respects. From our days at St. Joseph's Church, School, and Boy Scout Troop 6 and more recently with "Home Improvements" none of us ever crossed paths with Rose Mary and not come away with a big smile and a happy feeling about her beautiful thoughtful caring ways. What a sweet lady. And all her sons and daughters have always reflected that bright light of Rose Mary right back to each of us. You can be very proud of your fine family and all the good work you have done. May God ease your pain today, and continue to bless each of you.

Sincerely,

Tom & Cathy McILwee

I'm deeply saddened by the loss of Rose who I peg as a great Mom. To appreciate a mom, talk to her kids or neighbors. I lived next to Rose and Big Lar for 10 years.

Over time a family may grow apart. Not so with the Murrins. The kids stopped by the folk's each day. The kids probably spent more of their waking hours talking with the folks than when they lived with them.

Sometimes the kids would playfully tease Lar. He'd also try to tease Rose. To make him stop, Rose would just look at him a certain way. When Lar came back from work or Suell's, the first thing he'd say when he opened the door was "Angel, I'm home." Rose loved the kids so much that she had Lar put a pool in to give the kids another reason to stop by. She brought all the family together.

The kids stopped by so often, some neighbors thought they lived in the house and, because they were such a big family, even the garage. The driveway was described as a parking lot. Rose and Lar were such good parents that it rubbed off on Mike and Sue.

Rose and Lar were the best neighbors a man could want and the world has lost a great Mom. I will deeply miss her and always remember her for her humor and kindness.

To the wonderful Murrin family:

I was heartbroken to hear of Rose Mary's death. I'll miss talking to her when I had my usual emergency calls. Always so kind and understanding. Mike and Bobby have always made me feel like family (especially the joke about my scary houses) and I'm sure it's the way she raised you. If you ever need a shoulder-just call.

I've been away from the Wilmette gang for awhile now but I felt an emptiness in the pit of my stomach when I heard your Mom passed away yesterday. Your Mom and Dad always had their door wide open for everyone in the neighborhood (and the keg tapped once we reached 21). I passed by the house on Central when I was in Chicago last year and I re-lived the memories from back in the day. 'Mimi', Chris, Mike, Larry and Bobby (can't say those names separately) and 'little' Susie: I am very sorry about the loss of your Mother. Mr. Murrin: I'm very sorry for your loss. I can speak for all the Rennolds' when I say that we all loved your beautiful wife and will always keep her in our hearts. I wish I could fly out there and be with you but my wife is about ready to pop out baby #2 (Julia was the first). I will certainly be praying for you all and hope that you know that all the Rennolds' are thinking about you and truly express our deepest sympathies to your entire family.

If you need anything, please don't hesitate to call me. 240-344-5352.

P.
S. Little Larry: I'll give you a pack of gum if you go outside right now and push Bobby off his bike...
