Baird, Rodney J. "Sonny" 77, of Northbrook, former longtime resident of Glenview, November 24. Beloved husband of the late June (nee McKeown), loving father of Adriane Baird McFall (Rod), William R. Baird, Laura (Edward) McLaughlan, cherished grandfather of Callum and Fiona McLaughlan, fond brother of Edna (Tony) Hoffman and Lois (Jack) St. John. Owner of Baird Roofing, a family business for 70 years. Veteran of WWII U.S. Army Air Corps., where he flew the B-17, member of the Civil Air Patrol which flew out of the Glenview Naval Air Station and most recently a member of the Cougar Aviation Flying Club, Du Page County Airport, and also a member of the Northbrook American Legion Post #791 and a founding member of the Glenview Community Church. Visitation Tuesday, 3 to 9 p.m. at N.H. Scott & Hebblethwaite Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Rd., Glenview (2 blocks south of Lake Ave., on west side). Funeral service Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the Glenview Community Church, corner of Glenview & Elm, Glenview. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to Orphans of The Storm, 2200 Riverwoods Rd., Riverwoods, IL, 60015, or The Northbrook American Legion Post #791, 1435 Pfingsten Rd., Northbrook, Il, 60062.
