I was one of Mrs.Blash´s Chicago piano students from 1960 to 1968. I wasn´t musically gifted or particularly focused in those days, but I always remember Mrs. Blash as being exceedingly kind. Here is the full biography of this gifted woman
Roberta and her husband, Robert, moved to Paso Robles in September of 1994 from the Chicago area where she taught Kindergarten, Third Grade and General/Vocal Music, directed school choruses and plays, and Private Piano Instruction for 40+ years.
Roberta served as organist for Paso Robles traditional service at Trinity Lutheran Church since January of 2001.
Roberta earned a Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Piano and a minor in Voice and Composition from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago and Masters of Music Education from Vander Cook College of Music, also located in Chicago. She has also pursued postgraduate work, studied organ, attended and conducted music seminars, as well as holding membership in many musical and educational organizations. While attending school and later during her teaching career she was sought after as an accompanist as well. She was honored with "Teacher of the Year" award in 1984. Roberta has been a church organist and choir director for nearly 30 years. She also held the rank of E6-Staff Sergeant in the US Army Reserve.
While in Chicago, the Blash´s, were part of a performing jazz quartet, where Roberta sang and doubled on piano/keyboard/organ, flute, and percussion with the group.
