I was saddened to hear of Mr. Spicer's passing. I went to high school and played softball with his sons Bill, Tom, and Bob. Mr. Spicer was my Little League coach on the Scharringhausen drugstore team back in Park Ridge and he was always kind, encouraging, and positive -- and I was just one of the benchwarmers. More than 30 years later, when I coached my sons' teams in Little League, I thought about what I learned from "Coach" Spicer and from Mrs. Spicer and their sons, who were always very positive role models for all of the kids at Maine South. I'll say a special prayer for Mr. Spicer tonight and remember the difference he made in my life.

To the entire Spicer Family - I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Spicer when my mom called me this morning. Memories of Park Ridge and the Rose Avenue kids, moms and dads are something I fondly carry with me as an adult. Mr. Spicer helped to shape those memories. My heart goes out to you in your loss.
