Robert A. Scott, age 71, of Chicago. Beloved husband of Mary Lou Scott nee Velez; Preceded in death by his parents Robert Arthur Scott and Eileen Scott nee McGovern; loving father of Natalie (Allan) Oziran and Ruben (Cristina) Palmerin; proud grandfather of Nathaniel and Raquel ' Precious' Ozinan, Ruben III, Giuliana and Mauricio Palmerin; dear brother of Judith, Joanne, David (Janet), Steve, Thomas (Julie) and Eileen Scott; Godfather of Christopher Scott; fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bob's kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all. Bob was born in Detroit, and grew up in Boston, Saranac Lake, NY, then West Virginia, and as a teen in Urbana, Illinois along with 6 brothers and sisters, where Bob developed his wit and dry sense of humor. After earning his Bachelor's degree at Boston College, Bob returned to the Midwest (in his Triumph TR6 convertible) to earn an MBA from Southern Illinois University. Bob started his career in Finance as a CPA. His career expanded to lead Finance organizations across several industries. In his retirement, like his father, Bob loved spending time reading and researching investment opportunities. His insatiable appetite for sweets meant there was always several choices of ice cream and candy bars throughout the house, much to the delight of his grandchildren. Bob loved the water, tracing back to his many summers spent with his family on Cape Cod as a youth. He owned a beautiful sailboat, Spinoff, for many years in Chicago, and enjoyed navigating off the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Although a Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls fan, Bob's loyalty to the Boston Celtics, New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox remained. Bob was an avid golfer, often with early morning tee-times with his brother Tom and friends. While working in the Chicago area, he met his beloved wife Mary Lou as his life partner. Together they enjoyed traveling including long road-trips to visit family and friends. Visitation Wednesday September 28, 2022, 8:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. at Old Saint Patrick's Church, 700 West Adams Street, Chicago IL 60661.
