Thanks to all who came to my Dad's memorial service on Friday. Mary Jane, my sisters and I were honored and pleasantly surprised that so many family friend, relatives and associates joined in remembering the great 98 years he was with us. Thanks to each and every one of you. It meant the world to us.

I & my sisters grew up with the Schmitz family. I lost track after high school, but remember our times together fondly. Your dad was one of the good guys.

I am friend and nursing classmate of daughter Susan. My condolences are expressed for all family members. I knew Dr. Schmitz when I was a nursing student and practicing RN at Mercy Hospital. He was so highly regarded in his field of surgery and as a human being. It is wonderful that he lived a long life. Peace to him.

I'll miss you Grandpa. I am so glad and honored that I was able to spend the last 8 years living in Chicago, taking you to lunch and just getting to know you better. I'll never forget the times we had. Get some rest, you deserve it. Zach
