Robert Miles Obituary

Miles, Robert J. Robert J. Miles, age 68, of Mt. Horeb, WI passed away peacefully on March 23, 2014 at home. Bob was born on September 18, 1945 in Manhattan, New York, the son of Donald and Louise (Amato) Miles. He graduated from Forest Hills High School in Queens, New York in 1963. In 1965, he received a certificate in Commercial Art from Ray Vogue School of Design, Chicago, IL. Bob began his art and design career in 1965 as Apprentice at Bud Donahue and Associates in Chicago. He was drafted and served in Vietnam in the U.S. Army's 4th Infantry Division from 1965 to 1967. He received an Army Commendation Medal for Valor in 1966. Back in Chicago, Bob was an Assistant Art Director at Montgomery Ward Headquarters from 1968 to 1978. He worked at Miles Gallery, his family's art gallery in Skokie, IL, from 1978 to 1981. From 1981 to 1988, Bob was Vice President of Creative Services at Kranzten Studio, Chicago. He was a founding partner at Silver Lining Graphics, Chicago from 1988 to 1990. Bob moved to Wisconsin where he was Senior Art Director for Lands' End from 1990 to 2000. He relocated to Warren, PA where he worked as a Creative Director at Blair Corporation from 2000 to 2004. He returned to Mt. Horeb in 2004 to work as an Art Director at Colony Brands in Monroe, WI until his retirement in 2008. In his free time, Bob enjoyed good food and wine in the company of friends. He loved driving his convertible, blues and rock guitar music, classic movies, art, and architecture. Chicago and Key West were two of his favorite travel destinations. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Christine (Hackett) Miles of Mt. Horeb, WI; his devoted daughter, Elizabeth A. Miles of Chicago, IL; and his brother, Randall Miles of Skokie, IL; and many caring friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 500 N 8th St., Mt. Horeb, WI. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Agrace Hospice Care, 5395 E.
