Ludwig, Robert A.

Robert A. Ludwig, 90, a U.S. Navy veteran, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving children. Bob was the devoted father of Sheri (Joe) Geishecker, Renee (Thomas) Shears, Jeffrey (Carol) Ludwig, and Michele (Robert) Roessel. He was the cherished grandfather of Lindsay (Chris) Larsen, Sarah Geishecker, Eric Girardi, Robert (Naila) Ludwig, Jack Ludwig, Jeffrey Ludwig, Seth Geishecker, Matt Roessel, Katelyn Roessel, and Hayley Shears and beloved great-grandfather of Cameron and Noelle Larsen, and Andrew Ludwig. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Ludwig, and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Ludwig Rosso. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius and Stella (Gemza) Ludwig, his adored wife of 48 years, Florence Katz Ludwig, his brother, Daniel Ludwig, and sister, Diane Rutshaw Husak. A graduate of Chicago's Lane Tech, Bob began his career at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 1948. He joined the Navy in 1951 and was a Flight Engineer on a P-2 Neptune aircraft in Patrol Squadron 8 during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Chicago and to the Fed, married his wife, had four children, and continued his education, receiving his Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University and his Master's Degree from Rutgers University. Bob retired from the bank after 43 years of service and spent the next 30 years traveling the world, visiting six continents. Bob loved sports; the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Sky, and Green Bay Packers lost a dedicated fan.
