Robert Hirsch Obituary

Hirsch, Robert "Bob" J. 73, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Chicago Heights, Tinley Park, and Crete died suddenly April 5, 2008. He is the husband of Dr. Patty Hirsch; father of Timothy Hugo (Brenda) Hirsch, of Ljubljana, Slovenia; step-father to Missy (Jason) Day, of West Chicago; brother of Sally (Neil) Hinchman, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Judy (Bob) Nadler of Paradise Valley, AZ; son-in-law of Betty (late George) Ziegler, grandfather of Alexa Hirsch and Royal Day; uncle of Greg Hinchman, Doug Hinchman, Colorado Spgs, and David Hinchman, Boise ID, and was preceded in death by his parents Hazel and Edwin Hirsch. Bob grew up in Chicago Heights, graduate of the Bloom High School class of 1952, graduate of DePauw University, and Worsham College Class of 1958. Funeral Director and partner of Hirsch Funeral Homes and Founder and President of First Suburban Bank, former owner of the Prairie State Car Wash. Some of the many organizations he was active in include, the IPO, Lions Club of Chicago Heights, South Suburban Chamber. Upon moving to Colorado Springs Bob immediately became involved in the community, joined the staff of Navigators, a Christian mission organization, where he headed up the volunteers, worked with Habitat for Humanity locally and in Mississippi and recently Egypt. Bob was also active weekly in the Springs Rescue Mission. His main focus became First Presbyterian Church and was an influence in many areas, including leading classes, serving as a Stephens minister and singing in the 200 voice choir. Bob loved the mountains and hiked them regularly, including several 14,000 footers. In honor of Bob's memory donations to the charity of your choice are appreciated. Memorial Services, Friday, April 11th, 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs and Saturday, April 19th, at 11 p.m. following a Memorial Visitation from 9 a.m. until time of service at Heartland Memorial Center, 7151 183rd Street, Tinley Park, IL.
