Robert Gibbons Obituary

Gibbons, Robert Byrne

Robert "Bob" Gibbons, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather with a witty sense of humor, charm and sharp intellect died on July 20 at the age of 79.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy Gibbons (née McMillin); his children, Peggy (Bryan) Katz, Kate Vergara, Bill (Keri) Gibbons; and his grandchildren, Maximo, George, Oscar, Henry, and Juno. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and Bernie Gibbons.

Bob was born on May 20, 1944 to Bill and Margaret Gibbons. On June 28, 1970, in his words "the best decision I ever made," he married Nancy.

He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

When asked about arrangements, Bob said, "surprise me." Come surprise him with an Irish send-off and pay your respects on Friday, July 28 at 7:00 PM at Via Bella Restaurant, 5412 South La Grange Road in Countryside, IL.

I remember Bob as very intelligent and a quick wit.
I worked with him at Heller Financial where Bob taught me the intricacies of system analysis.
I will always appreciate his instruction.
My sincere condolences to the family.
