Robert Flowers Obituary

Flowers, Robert E. Age 87, passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2013 surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Born on April 24, 1926 in Jacksonville, FL, he moved to Chicago with his family at a young age. He graduated from Lane Tech in Chicago. He served in the Navy during World War II. In 1949 he was hired by the CTA as a Car Servicer and during his 36 years of employment retired in 1985 as the Superintendent of Quality Control. He enjoyed golf, swimming, working on cars, and woodworking. Beloved husband to Margaret (Forristal) Flowers. Loving father to Robert J Flowers, Donna (David) Pozezinski, Daniel Flowers, Margaret Joy. Cherished grandpa of Ryan, Amy, Madeline, Nicholas, Natalie and Judy. Older brother to Jean (Herb) Rupert, Lucille (William) Bowen, Stanley Flowers, and Judy (Paul) Guarerro. Preceded in death by parents, John and Jenny Flowers; sisters, Loni May Flowers and Juanita Flowers. Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 323 N Taylor in Marengo IL, on Monday, August 19, 2013. Visitation with family will be at 10:00 am, Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am. His final resting place will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
