Robert Di Silvestro Obituary

Di Silvestro, Robert F. age 71, attorney, at rest December 18, 2003, beloved and devoted husband of Theresa (nee Grosso), loving and caring father of Robert J. (Felicia) Di Silvestro and Stephen P. (Catherine) Di Silvestro, loving and proud "Papa" of Michelle Rose, Stephen Robert and Kathleen Marie, dear brother of Anita (Elio) Vento, Angela (Ernest) Santangelo and the late Anthony (Marion) Di Silvestro, fond uncle of many nieces and nephews; counselor and friend to all who have known him. Robert was the son of Pietro and Rosina Di Silvestro, who emigrated from Castel San Vincenzo in the region of Molise, Italy. Robert attended St. Ignatius High School, Loyola University and Loyola Law School. He accepted a legal position at the First National Bank of Chicago where he became vice-president and trust counsel. Robert drafted the bank's estate planning documents and trained numerous attorneys in estate planning throughout his 33 years at the bank. On October 11, 1958, Robert married his long-time love, Theresa, in what was the beginning of 45 years of mutually devoted love. Bob and Theresa had two sons, Robert and Stephen, both who are lawyers like their father, with whom he proudly practice law since 1987 on the northwest side of Chicago. This was his love and enjoyment: being with his wife and sons on a daily basis; helping others in time of need; and providing practical resolutions to his client's problems which he viewed to be an attorney's primary responsibility. Robert was a devout Catholic throughout his life. Beginning at Notre Dame Parish on the near west side, then at St. John Bosco Parish in Chicago and later at St. Norbert's Parish in Northbrook, he was an active parishioner, often attending daily Mass. Bob and Theresa developed life long friendships with numerous priests and nuns over the years. Bob was an active member of Ridgemoor Country Club and the Columbian Club of Chicago, a philanthropic organization of Italian American businessmen where he was elected President and a life member. He was also an active member of the Chicago and Illinois State Bar Associations, the Justinian Society, the St. Stephen and St. Vincent Society and the Molisani nel Mondo. Bob's grandchildren, Michelle, Stephen and Kathleen, were his pride and joy. They will have everlasting memories of their proud "Papa". Robert was a true servant to his family, friends, clients and God. He will truly be missed by all. Funeral Tuesday, 9 a.m., from Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, to St. Norbert Church. Mass 10 a.m. Entombment Queen of Heaven Mausoluem. Visitation Monday, 3 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Columbian Club Charitable Foundation, c/o Di Silvestro and Associates, 5231 N. Harlem, Chicago, IL., 60656. Bob, our dear friend for many years. We knew you since we got married and that was over 50 years. You were in law school at that time. Bob, we will never forget you, not only as our lawyer but a true friend. Thank you for leaving us your two sons who will carry on for you and will be there for us along with your Theresa. May you rest in peace.
