Berger, Robert B.
Robert "Bob" Berger passed away last Saturday in California. He was 86. In addition to his successful career as a creative real estate developer, Bob was a restorer, farmer, and passionate patron of the arts via the historic Fine Arts and Flat Iron buildings in Chicago. It was with a deep sense of pride that he believed his mother, Dorothy, to be the impetus for her sons' numerous achievements in Chicago and beyond. By his own admission, he made a bunch of errors throughout life, though ultimately also did a lot of good. The myriad of charities to which Bob and his daughter Erica donated will continue to receive gifts through the Robert B. Berger foundation, as directed by Erica. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at both the Fine Arts and Flat Iron buildings in Chicago at a future date. An intimate memorial service was held graveside. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please make a gift to your charity of choice.

Bob Berger's vision for the Flat Iron Arts Building helped me get a foothold in Chicago from which I was able to launch a long successful career in the arts. Many of us were able to focus on our work as artists buoyed by his maintenance of the Flat Iron as a place for working artists and engaged hobbyists both. Bob Berger has a lasting legacy for many of us.

Bob was like a father to me for many years. We would talk daily about life and real estate when I was with Bank of America. He was a friend not a client. His love for his children was immense and his proudest accomplishments were not real estate related but the success of his children. I wish I could have said a final goodbye. Miss you good friend

So sorry for your loss. Always thought very highly of Bob. We met at Senn High School during a summer session, and had a number of the mutual friends for many years. He was a lovely guy who will be missed.

To the family of Bob, I want you to know how grateful I am for his work on the Fine Arts Building! I´m a docent for the Chicago Architecture Center and I lead tours of the FAB. Bob did so much to help bring the building back to life. I only bet Bob once but it was a lively and interesting meeting I won´t forget. I was giving a tour and out of an office comes a man playing a trumpet! It was Bob and we had a great discussion with him as a group. Thankful for him!!
