Robert Barron Obituary

Robert Barron, 83, of Berwick, passed away Thursday evening, Nov. 17, 2016, in Berwick Hospital Center Emergency Room after being stricken at his residence at Berwick Retirement Village I.

He was born Nov. 11, 1933 in Glen Lyon, a son to the late John and Laura (Sperry) Barron.

Robert served in the Army during the 1950s. After his discharge, he worked in Clifton, N.J., at Old Spice.

In 1970, he moved to Berwick where he was primarily employed as a material handler at Carlisle Plastics, Inc. until his retirement. He was an active member at First United Methodist Church in Berwick, where he served as a greeter, choir member and helper wherever he was needed until health conditions prevented further participation.

Robert enjoyed animals, especially dogs, watching classic horror films and rooting for the Berwick Bulldog football team. He also taught himself to play the piano by ear.

A quiet, friendly and kind man, Robert will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Surviving Robert are his son, Robert D. Barron and wife, Melissa, Bloomsburg.

As well as his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, the former Yoda Smith in 1998. Also preceding were 10 siblings, Louise, Mildred, Emily, Joe, Jimmy, Leonard, George, Dan, Jack and Thomas.

Robert's funeral service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. Third St., Berwick. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
