Richard D. Toolis "Rick" (Retired CPD)

60, lifelong Canaryville resident, passed away January 12, 2023. Beloved husband of Dolores (Rangel); loving father of Ricky Toolis II and Brittany Toolis; cherished brother of Cheryl (Chuck) Malnarick; dearest uncle of Shannon Vargas, Margaret O'Toolis, and Sean O'Toolis; and many more; fond friend of Danny Shine; also survived by his grand-animals Ophelia and Mr. Kitty.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Catherine Toolis (Patterson); and siblings Thomas (late Jamele) Toolis, James (late Patricia, late Terri) Toolis; Geraldine Toolis, and Robert Toolis.

Rick was a loyal and dedicated retired Chicago Police Officer. He was the past President of the Emerald Society and former jail guard for Cook County. Rick was a passionate cook, who would enjoy cooking meals for his family and friends. He and owned and operated his own food truck, and attended several different events and fests to share his joy of cooking with everyone. He cherished spending time with his family, and playing Santa-Claus during the Christmas season.

He will always be remembered for his honesty, loyalty, bravery, great sense of humor and quick-witted jokes.

Services at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. Wallace Street, Chicago, IL 60609. Where family and friends will gather on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 3-8 pm. Funeral Tuesday, January 17, 2023 with chapel prayers at 9:15 am to St. Gabriel Church, 600 W. 45th St., for a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment St. Mary Cemetery.

Rick will be greatly missed by all his friends at White Lake Beach Resort ... here's hoping they have Miller Lite in heaven! We thought it would be fitting to have 10 trees planted in his name (to provide oxygen for 40 people annually!)
