Beloved husband of Mabel. Loving father of Donna (Rick) Mueller, Richard Nardini, Diane (Jim) Weigt, Ronald (Terri) Nardini, and Robert Nardini. Cherished grandfather of Ryan (Allisen) Mueller, Chris Mueller, Michael Nardini, Valerie Nardini, Gia Nardini, and Deanna Nardini. Proud great grandfather of Hannah Mueller and Andrew Mueller. Dear son of the late Dominic and Mary Nardini. Brother of Eugene (Donna), Ronald (Barbara), Charles (Patricia), the late Daniel (Kay), the late Raymond (Barbara), the late Violet (Don), the late Robert (Betty), the late William (Mary Lois), the late James (Jean), the late Thomas (Kay), and the late Jeanette (Ollie). Proud uncle of many. Due to outbreak of the pandemic at the time of Richard's passing, a Celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 4:30 pm at East Leyden High School, 3400 Rose Street, Franklin Park. Family and friends will gather at St. Paul Evangelical Covenant Church , 3342 Calwagner (the corner of Calwagner and King Streets) in Franklin Park on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 for a visitation from 6:30 pm 9:00 pm. My life was enriched by having been fortunate enough to have had Dick as a friend. He accomplished in life what all of us would hope for: a legacy that left a lasting impact of admiration for his strength of character, fierce love of his family, loyalty to his enduring friendships, honesty, integrity and all the traits that one could wish for in one's own life. AND... an incredible sense of humor which included the ability to step back and laugh at himself occasionally just to lighten the mood. Just a wonderful guy!

Rich Nardini was on school board of Leyden High Schools, for 36 years, serving as president for 29 of those years. A plaque on the wall of the East Leyden board room reads," What is best for the kids." Rich believed strongly in these words and in addition he believed in applying these words throughout his life in doing his best for his wife, Mabel, his family, his friends, the teachers at Leyden, and the positions he held at the Sun Times for 56 years. It would be difficult to find a better human being than Rich Nardini. Respected by all, I truly valued him as a friend.
