Richard Mascola Obituary

Mascola, Richard Age 64, of Bolingbrook, beloved husband of Carla (nee Stronk); cherished son of the late Louis and the late Eleanor Mascola. He was a friend to many in the graphic arts industry of the greater Chicagoland area and beyond. Richard was a talented published photographer who spent a great deal of time in the north woods of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan immersing himself in the beauty of his surroundings. He was a true lover of nature and a relentless rescuer of neglected and abused Golden Retrievers. His love of life and his vibrant personality will be greatly missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations to As Good As Gold Golden Retriever Rescue of Illinois, PO Box 533, Wheeling, IL 60090 would be greatly appreciated. Visitation Saturday 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Bolingbrook-McCauley Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 530 W. Boughton Rd. (1 mi. West of Rt. 53, at Schmidt Rd.), Bolingbrook. Rich brought a smile to my face each time we met in the yard as we are next door neighbors. He made me laugh, told me a story, showed me his dog(s)... He was what I hope I will be. A wonderful man. He will be deeply missed.

Went to grade school with Richard, class of 1965, Assumption BVM in West Pullman. Five of us had a reunion several years ago. So sorry to hear this news. Was nice to see him as an adult...it had been 40 some years. Loved seeing his photography. My prayers and thoughts are with his wife and our other classmates who feel sorrow at his passing. I was so sorry to hear of Richard's passing. He was such a great guy. His eye for beauty was remarkable. The world is a lesser place without him. God Bless. Please take care of yourself.

What a special person Rich was! Having been in the Printing for 30 plus years I have had my fair share of sales calls. Rich was one guy that I immediately felt a kinship with. We could talk and drink,(more talking than drinking! Really!) for hours( and yes the business always got done!) His love of music , photography, his beloved rescue dogs and of course his wife Carla always made for a good lunch conversation. He will be sorely missed by many in our industry as he was one that came up through the ranks and made something of himself. I felt I knew him a lot longer than I did. I,m sure he passed with a Led Zeppelin song in his heart and a beautiful landscape before his eyes. May you rest in peace my friend.
