Richard L. Jewell, 63, of McKenzie, Tennessee, formerly of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. He was born on July 11, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Ronald and Della (Cook) Jewell.
Richard was a 1979 graduate of Athens High School and later earned a degree in ceramic engineering from Hocking College. He was a former member of the Athens County Elks Lodge 973. Richard’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Stacy Dietz Jewell; five children, Olivia (Micheal) Blevins, Victoria (Corey) Wilson, Samuel Jewell, Seth (Megan) Douglas, and Adam (Kelly) Douglas; 12 grandchildren, Lucas, Carson, Landon, Chloe, Logan, Lincoln, Torbin, Nolan, Layton, Lucy, Sophia, and Creedence; one brother, Steve (Georgia) Jewell; one sister, Lu Ann (Jewell) Hawk; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Joseph Hawk.
