Richard Gobin Obituary

Richard W. “Rich” Gobin, 54, of Jessica’s Way, South Attleboro, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. He was the husband of Constance “Connie” Therese (Bonin) Gobin to whom he was married on August 9, 1969.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on October 22, 1949, he was a son of Lauretta (Gravel) Gobin of Pawtucket, RI and the late Wilfred H. Gobin. He was raised and educated in Cumberland, Rhode Island where he attended Cumberland High School. He resided in Cumberland until moving to Pawtucket in 1969 where he lived until moving to South Attleboro in 1992.

Mr. Gobin was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was employed as a soldering supervisor at V.H. Blackinton & Company, Inc. in North Attleboro for three years until retiring in 2001 due to illness. He had previously been employed at Geri-Lu Creations in Johnston, Rhode Island for 14 years and at the former Nu-Frame Company in Providence for 15 years.

Mr. Gobin was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church in Pawtucket.

He enjoyed camping and fishing and as an avid bowler was a member of various bowling leagues over the years.

In addition to his wife of 34 years and his mother, he leaves two daughters: Michelle L. Gwozdz of Pawtucket and Melanie A. McAlister of North Attleboro; a son: Michael R. Gobin of Pawtucket; two sisters: Constance Nickelson of Riverside, RI and Gloria Leforte of Rumford, RI; two brothers: Edward Gobin of Pawtucket, RI and Gerard “Jerry” Gobin of Orlando, Florida; a granddaughter: Kaitlyn Gwozdz of Pawtucket, RI and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 9:00 AM from the “Commonwealth Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia’s Church, Newport Avenue, Pawtucket with the Rev. Francis F. Santilli, officiating. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2003 from 8:00 – 9:00 AM in the “Commonwealth Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro prior to the commencement of the funeral service.

Supervised children’s room available during visitation and the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites attendees to bring an unwrapped toy or clothing item to donate to the funeral home’s “Sleigh Full of Joy” Christmas campaign or to make a donation to any other community toy or clothing drive to benefit children during the holiday season.
