Ekkert, Richard R. 77, of Bolingbrook, formerly of Bridgeview, Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army, very active member of the Bridgeview V.F.W. Post #8475. Beloved husband of the late Thelma (nee Kemp) Ekkert, loving father of Kathy (Ken) Kleager Jr., Gloria (Dave) Burnell, the late Richard (Nancy), late Bob (Becki) and the late Brenda (Moses) Crain, cherished grandfather of Mike Ekkert, Kenny Kleager, and Amy (Will) Small, devoted great-grandfather of Christian and Brianna Small, fond uncle of numerous nieces and nephews; and all his grand-puppies. Visitation Sunday, 4 to 8 p.m., at the Markiewicz Funeral Home, 108 Illinois St., Lemont. Funeral service Monday, 9:30 a.m., to St. Alphonsus Church, Lemont, for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
