My dear first cousin who I was just getting to know again. I remember visiting her wonderful family in Huntington Station, Long Island. Their generosity and compassion will also be part of my memories of the Speizer family. They opened up their hearts and home to us. I send my condolences to her family and especially to her sisters Jayne and Laurie.

Renae was our first cousin--our fathers were brothers. Our families lived hundreds of miles apart when we were children, so visits were well-anticipated events, the excitement building for months. When Renae's dad died, the families drifted apart. Just recently we started to reconnect through e-mail. My father, Renae's uncle, will turn 90 this year, and we were hoping to arrange a visit to or with Renae and her sisters. The news of her death came as a shock to us. We are so saddened that we will never have the opportunity to reconnect as adults. In our hearts she will always be the adorable, warm and friendly child and teenager we knew in our youth. May her memory be a blessing to all those whose lives she touched. We mourn her passing and deeply regret the years that we lost touch. We extend our condolences to Jayne and Laurie, and to Renae's family.

Renee was a very energetic person who was always willing to lend a helping hand. I worked with her on the Home and School Association at the Avery Coonley School and always found her both a leader and a good listener. As a teacher, I also knew her as the "mom" of Josh and Steve. She regarded them as her boys since she came into their family after their mom died. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family.

Renae Henkin lived life with a positive and energetic spirit. Her sense of humor was always present at a moment's notice. As a friend of Josh's, I saw what a supportive mother Renae was to the entire family. May she rest in peace.

Renae was the kindest, sweetest person I know. She made time for everyone and made peace between people. She will always have a special place in the hearts of the Penkar family. May her memory always be a blessing. We wish for G-d's strength and comfort to be bestowed upon Bob, Greg and his family, Josh and his family and Steven and his new bride as well as all of Renae's extended family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
